On Saturday, former president Jimmy Carter turned 98.

Carter, the longest-serving president in US history, celebrated the milestone with his family.

celebrated in Plains, Georgia, the town he was born in, in 1924, the year Calvin Coolidge was president.

spouse Rosalynn, age 95. He went to a parade in Plains and sat in a wheelchair to watch.

Carter could be seen grinning in a wheelchair watching the march in a photo shared by the Carter Center.

His grandson claimed that he was likely to watch the Atlanta Braves, his favourite club, compete for first place in the National League East that evening.
